Lotto number combinations to avoid
Or how you can improve your chances to win a BIG jackpot !
Certain number combinations are always picked by 100´s of other lotto players. That means if you select these numbers too, and these numbers come up, you will have to share your jackpot with 100´s of other people. Imagen that ! For once in your life you are extremely lucky, you have a winning ticket, all the numbers match, and then you find out you have to share the jackpot with 96? other winners. That´ s not my idea of winning the lotto.
I wouldn´ t mind sharing my jackpot with 2 or 3 other players.
As I said before. I´ m not greedy. I want everybody to win. But please, not everybody at the same time !
So here are a few tips to keep in mind when selecting your numbers :
Birthdays
AVOID what Lotto Experts call the Birthday Numbers Rule (having all the winning lotto numbers under 32). While it is not an absolute rule, payouts are generally much lower. I have 4 kids. Their birth dates are definately my lucky numbers. I sometimes use these lucky numbers, but not all of them in the same grid. I always make sure to mix them with a couple of high numbers.
Patterns
AVOID a number (letīs say 3 or more) of consecutive squares on the board, arranged either horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
Let me explain.
Do you know the game Battleship ? A guessing game played by two people, where each player arranges a number of ships (battleships, aircraft carriers ...) secretly on his grid. During his turn, the player announces a square in the opponents´ grid which is to be shot at. If a ship occupies that square, then it takes a hit ...
If you know the game then you know what I mean :
AVOID playing Naval Strategy games on your playslip.
Consecutive numbers
AVOID selecting five (or more) consecutive numbers. Even four consecutive numbers is a very rare occurrence that, in most Lotto games, has never happened once.
The most popular set of consecutive numbers played is: 1-2-3-4-5-6. Definately one to avoid. Thousands of tickets are bought with this combination every drawing.
Also heavily played are number multiples, like 2-4-6-8-10-12 or 5-10-15-20-25-30 or 10-20-30-40-50, while the most popular single choice is said to be the multiples of seven : 7,14,21,28,35,42.
Also heavily played are numbers with same last digits, such as 2-12-22-32-42 or 15-25-35-45-55. But if you keep my tip about avoiding &quod;Naval Strategy games&quod; in mind, you will almost automatically avoid these patterns too (depending on the lay-out of your gameīs playslip, but again, Iīm sure you get the picture).
A picture ? Well thatīs a good idea !
Just an example, using a 6/42 lotto playslip.
More things to consider :
Many players like to bet on sets of numbers that have won a big Jackpot in the past. It´ s almost impossible for the exact same set of numbers to hit the Jackpot twice.
Or they bet on previous winning combinations, such as last week´s winning numbers (sometimes going back several years).
Don´t play other players numbers. Be careful with lotto predictions you find on the internet :) or in your local newspaper, in horoscopes in magazines or with services that send your lucky numbers directly to your cellphone. Other people might play them too.
This is also one of the reasons I use Euro Millions to explain lotto strategies (and give a prediction based on those strategies), and not the Powerball or Mega Millions lotto. And also the reason why I donīt reveal the &quod;Stars&quod; or the &quod;Powerball&quod; I´ m going to play.
One last thing :
I know a guy, he plays 10 (balanced) sets of numbers every week. Nothing special, you will say. BUT, he buys the same numbers twice ! I´m not saying he´s smart, and I´m not suggesting you should do the same. It´s just one of those weird things people tell me. It´s a little evil. I like that. It makes me think. That´s why I share it with you.
